Pro Abort Speaks at Sagrado Corazón University.

The “Catholic” Sacred Heart University of Puerto Rico is currently hosting a conference, in which, one of the main speakers is Professor Esther Vicente, co-author of a book on abortion, and an advocate for the world wide legalization of the killing of the unborn in the name of what is euphemistically called “reproductive health”. Professor Vicente is, in fact, a member of Governing Council of the International Planned Parenthood Federation, the worlds largest abortion provider, and serves as “President of the Western Hemisphere Region” of this pernicious organization.

This is not an isolated instance of problems concerning the Catholic identity of Sagrado Corazon. In 2008, presidential candidate and strong pro abortion advocate Hilary Clinton was invited to this “Catholic” institution causing great scandal.

Universities which promote themselves as Catholic, have a duty to teach and promote Catholic values at all times. In particular, they should promote a clear understanding of our deep convictions on the theme of abortion, an act which the Church considers an abominable crime. Some years ago, the U.S. bishops, in their statement “Catholics in Political Life” banned platforms or honors for public opponents of Catholic teaching at Catholic institutions. A similar policy is needed here in Puerto Rico.

It is ironic that the conference at Sagrado Corazon deals with the theme of violence, yet the greatest violence of all, murder of the unborn by abortion, is promoted by the speaker.

Fortunately, for parents seeking a genuine Catholic education for their children there are excellent alternatives available.
