“Prevención de Violencia” or Indoctrination?

According to a letter [1] of the Chancellor Dr. Carlos Severino Valdez, the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras, is currently distributing what it calls “Educational Material concerning Violence against Women”.

While it is laudable that the UPR is concerned with the problem of violence against women, it is of great concern that this is being done in collaboration with an ideological entity, “Coordinadora Paz para la Mujer, Inc.” This is a collective of NGO’s and feminist organizations, some of which have a history of promoting radical ideologies whose effect is to confound the roles of men and women in society, and to eliminate cultural traditions that value life, marriage, and family. Many individuals and organizations in this coalition promote abortion on demand, sex and gender education in schools and even kindergartens, the normalization of “sex change” procedures, and so called “same-sex marriage”. In the delusional, self-enclosed world of organizations such as Amnesty International Puerto Rico – a member of “Coordinadora Paz para la Mujer,” killing of children in the womb is regarded as a human right and the prohibition of abortion as torture [2] -a viewpoint that has led to the killing of hundreds of million of Chinese children (mainly girls) by forced abortion [3]. In Puerto Rico, the high abortion rate ( 0.68) has resulted in a reduction of fertility to well below the population replacement level [4].

While the purported aim of Coordinadora Paz para la Mujer is the prevention of violence against women, its real aim would seem to be ideological cultural revolution. The University should not be collaborating with entities that actually undermine its core mission.
